We were approached by a large London based investment bank, having already helped them to find a number of SME’s when they significantly expanded their financial crime division.
The Head of Financial Crime found that he was spending all his time with senior stake-holders, leaving him little time to manage the team.
They needed a deputy MLRO with sufficient experience across all areas of financial crime, to lead the team on a day-to-day basis. Despite the bank using their own direct sourcing team and internal referrals they had been unable to find the ideal person and so we were delighted to be asked to work on the role.
It was key that we identify the right candidate at the right level as the role was titled ‘deputy’, but was equivalent to a ‘Head Of’ role. Our deep networks of financial crime contacts meant that we shortly had a long-list of suitable names and we refined this to a short-list of 3 ideal candidates, one of whom particularly stood out for her technical knowledge and interpersonal skills.
The client shared our view and following a lengthy interview process, she was hired. The client now has a new deputy MLRO, who is a perfect fit and the candidate has a new role which is perfect for the future development of her career.
